Our 2010-11 Media Hoops season kicked off to a great start with the appointment of our new Basketball Director, Lewis Johnson. Coach Johnson is a Media, PA native and has a long history with the MYC. His father, the late Jumbo Johnson, was once the Director. This year our Media Hoops League had 75 teams and nearly 800 players.

In January our 2nd Annual Hoopla Day fundraiser was held featuring competitions, games and fun to support the league. Mr. Sonny Hill, NBA Hall of Famer, was the guest speaker. There was also a show stopping performance by 76ers’ mascot Hip Hop and his Hare Raisers.

Coach Walters’ Boy’s third grade team was the top fundraisers.

The 1st Annual Hoopla Day (formerly Shoot-A-Thon) was held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Penncrest High School. It was a huge success; a fun event which also raised necessary funds for the Media Hoops League. Legendary Big 5 Coach John Chaney of Temple University fame spoke to players about taking responsibility for their actions and there was an incredible dunking show by 76ers Mascot Hip Hop and his Hare Raisers.
